David Daiku Trowbridge

I have a passion for science that I got from my father, a science teacher, and I love to teach. My career was in software development, from which I am now retired. In my early twenties I was introduced to teachings of the Buddha and I have maintained a meditation practice ever since. Since 2001 my wife and I have been involved with Enso House, an all-volunteer end of life care facility on Whidbey Island in Washington State.

My interests include astronomy, using the telescopes in my home-built observatory (on those relatively rare clear nights on Whidbey Island); hiking and backpacking in the Pacific Northwest; world travel (Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, China, Japan); eclipse chasing (to wherever it leads); Zen Buddhism and epistemology. I recently completed writing my first book, Enso House: Caring for Each Other at the End of Life.
