I am a 38 year old author who has loved writing all her life. From as young an age as I can remember I half lived in a fantasy world, dreaming up stories and pondering on characters. My primary passion lies in the world of fiction, being able to spirit my own and your imagination away. However, whilst exploring my ideas I found that I was an avid researcher and a passion for non-fiction was ignited by my thirst to learn. I have since had three non-fiction books published by the History Press, all very different, and I have thoroughly enjoyed writing each of them.
My first novel, published by Melange Books, will be available from December 2016, so look out for it!
Saving Grace; a heartfelt novel of friendship, love and betrayal.
The never-ending battle we wage between emotions and logic is only hindered by the busy lives to which we tie ourselves.
Thank you for being interested in what I write about. It's good to make connections.
Folklore of Lincolnshire
Who knew Lincolnshire was such a nucleus for ancient dragons, ghosts, devils and beasts? Those gently rolling wolds and endless skies belie the many tales of mischief and misfortune that lurk between these pages. Writing this book I felt I became engaged within a treasure hunt, tracking down one clue after another until eventually stumbling upon some mythical carving in a tree, or mysterious stone formation which reinforced the folk tale I had unearthed.
It was an adventure to write, as it is to read.
Hull Book of Days
Proud to call Hull my home town, the city's history is rich with philanthropists, musicians, artists, entrepreneurs, heroes and villains...just to mention a few. We've had our tragedies here, our celebrations. We've turned kings away and caused civil wars. We've led the world and our people's talents have spread far and wide. These are a people worth knowing about... try and visit the old place sometime. You have a perfect excuse in 2017 when we are the City of Culture, so a great opportunity to sample all there is on offer!
Hull and the Humber; remembering 1914 - 18
100 years on and yet the stories of bravery, of loss, of atrocities no man should ever have to endure, are as strong as ever they were. This book reflects the stout-heartedness of Hull's men and women during the first world war. Proud, loyal, brave and adventurous; the whole city was changed forever by that war and their sacrifices should never be forgotten.
Saving Grace
A novel of trust, friendship, love and betrayal. Grace returns home after years living abroad and the first face she sees throws her emotions into turmoil. How could she have forgotten Charlie, her very first love? The presence of the estranged Eddie, Charlie’s twin brother, painfully reminds her of the tragic past they share but he seems as reluctant to talk about it as Grace does. Her mind is somewhat preoccupied with her new life, however...and her new boss, who leads her on a thrilling journey through the world of art. That is until the violent ex-lover she was trying to escape re-enters her life, bringing with him a dark underworld of treachery and heartache. This envelops everyone she cares for, drawing them into a complex web of mystery, menace and romance.
