David C Reavis

David C. Reavis retired from North Carolina State Government as a Treasury Professional after 36 years of service. Upon his retirement in 2011, he was bestowed, "The Order of the Long Leaf Pine," which is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina.

He has been doing genealogy research on the Reavis Family for over 40 years. He grew up in the Reavis Homeplace located in Vance County, NC, built by Samuel Reavis in 1789. He has always appreciated the heritage represented by the generations of Reavises who have lived there. In writing his first historical novel, he was inspired by the resilience of the human spirit demonstrated by his ancestors who endured and survived one of the most horrific periods of America's history.

In October 2013, the NC Society of Historians awarded David the prestigious Clark Cox Historical Fiction Award for "Upon These Steps." The second edition of Upon These Steps" was published in August 2017, containing 50 more pages of research and photos and was awarded the John Esten Cooke Award for Fiction, given by The Military Order of the Stars and Bars.

David and his wife Deelane now live in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
