Kat Kirst retired from her classroom and likes to joke she has finally graduated from junior high. Now, she gets to write full-time and visit schools when they ask her to come. She lives in Dickinson, Texas with her husband, Tom, who keeps her focused on her dreams, and her dog, Chance, who keeps the yard free from any and all squirrel invasions.

Kat wrote her first book,"Surviving My Family," for kids who have difficult home lives and don't like to read much. If you know anyone who lives this life, get this book to them. "Snitch" was written for kids who like a realistic book about things that could actually happen to them in the hallway or after school. Even though the main character is a boy, girls like it too. "Between Night and Mourning," is a collection of short ghost stories written just because it was fun. The kids in her class helped her with this one and say she finally got the cover right. "The Cost of Living Forever," is a great read about the future where the rich seldom die, and the rest of the world struggle to live past twenty-five. The model on her cover was one of her students from her English class! Kat is working on her next book "Touch". In it, Cheryl has to stay far away from old things, because they fill her brain with pictures that tell her their past. It's finished, and Kat hopes to have it out by summer, but she has to get the cover right first.
