Dr. Wayne D Pernell

Dedicated to guiding the discovery of emerging strengths, personal power, and magic in people’s daily lives, Dr Wayne Pernell has an extensive history of helping individuals, leaders, and organizations define, design, and attain success.

Over the past several decades, Dr Wayne Pernell has worked with thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations (and the various levels of leadership within them). Focusing on defining deeply held values, creating meaningful vision statements, and building strategic plans aimed at attaining the vision, Dr Pernell has inspired hope and created pathways for his clients and friends to truly become successful.

Blending his background of clinical psychology, business, magic, and martial arts, Dr Pernell works with clients to effect changes for long-term stability and success. While Wayne’s doctorate is in clinical psychology and he worked with individuals and couples, he “took a left turn” into the business arena when a client asked him to help guide the senior leadership in his business.

Up for the challenge, Dr Pernell recognized the power of communication at all levels within the organization and began working with companies in the San Francisco Bay area. He developed clientele that included senior management at Charles Schwab, 3Com, AAA, and Whole Foods Market. In addition, Dr Pernell ran a locked psychiatric facility as well as assisted non-profit organizations in regaining their footing, setting strategic plans for departments and divisions and working with individuals along the way. Currently, in addition to maintaining his private practice, he is engaged in the role of Organization Development Executive and Senior Consultant/Trainer at the Pride Institute, a Bay Area based firm specializing in dental practice management where he is consistently called upon to provide guidance and counsel for work teams and senior leaders across the country.

Now known as “Dr Wayne,” the moniker of “Dr P” was given to him after performing magic for children’s groups many years ago. While no longer performing as a professional magician, Dr P is still known to pull some magic out of his hat as he teaches, touches, and transforms your focus to engage you in Choosing Your Power (a phrase he uses regularly to reflect the title of his recent book).

Giving back to the community, Dr Pernell has also been called “Sensei Wayne,” when he taught for the local Parks and Recreation department for almost thirty years. Sensei Wayne holds a fourth degree black belt in Bushido, a multi-disciplinary martial art that translates as The Way of The Warrior. This gentle warrior regularly draws upon philosophies and concepts of the martial arts throughout his leadership training.

At home in the Bay Area with his blended family, Wayne seems constantly on the go supporting the endeavors of those around him, bettering himself as he pushes to better others.
