Conrad Samayoa

Conrad was born and raised in Guatemala, Central America. He attended Universidad de San Carlos, School of Medicine and graduated as Physician and Surgeon. After graduation, he worked as Medical Director of a rural hospital in San Pedro Necta, Huehuetenango, a region populated by Maya-Indians. He instituted the Mother-Infant Program, Family Planning, as well as, trained Promoters of Health to help in the distant and isolated communities served by his hospital. Later completed a post grad at University of Illinois, Chicago. Is a Board Certified Pediatrician.

During his medical school years, Conrad was Co-editor of Juventud Medica(Medical Youth), a monthly periodical. With Dr. Carlos Martinez Duran, Ex-Dean of the medical school, Conrad co-authored: History of Anesthesia in Guatemala, Bronze Medal winner, Third Pan American Literary Contest.

Conrad served as Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at University of Illinois, Chicago, as Attending Physician at Swedish Hospital, Illinois Masonic and Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is now a Pediatrician Emeritus.

Conrad was an active member of Meyer Medical Group, Ravenswood Medical Group and Advocate Medical Group.

Conrad is the author of" The Quetzal and the Cross", "The Mayan Enigma". As a doctor he has published, "Amazing Tips for Losing Weight".

He is currently working on a practical guide on pediatrics, as well as, more historical fiction novels.

Conrad's books are also available in Spanish.

Conrad has a passion for history, Guatemalan history specially and enjoys reading mystery, action and historical novels. He also likes music, soccer, football and best of all, his family and friends.
