Nicholas Downing

Nicholas Jonathon Downing is the award-winning author of Confessions of a Janissary and the Talon Trilogy Christian Science Fiction & Fantasy Series. Nick is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy (Bachelor of Science, Military History), Regis University (Master of Business Administration), and Cornell University (Certificate in Executive Leadership & Strategy). A combat veteran, Nick served as an executive officer for a USAF Special Warfare unit, commanded the 101st Airborne’s Joint MRT in Afghanistan, and deployed with CENTCOM before completing his military service as a reservist assigned to NORAD/NORTHCOM. In late 2021, after a 4-year stint with Lockheed Martin as a senior division manager for DOD & NASA space operations, Nick felt called to join the global ministry of Compassion International where he now serves as Senior Director of Enterprise Execution. Happily married and a proud father of four beautiful children, Nick calls Colorado home and enjoys hiking, spending time in the mountains, and bible studies. A lifelong martial artist, he holds black belts in Taekwondo and Karate and currently trains in Israeli Krav Maga and Muay Thai kickboxing. Nick’s sense of humor is tainted by an overreliance on “pun”ishing dad jokes.
