Dr. Danielle Green

Dr. Danielle Green is an award-winning author who has written over 15 books. She has been blessed with three beautiful daughters (Tia, Alyssa, and Makala) and the very proud grandmother of a handsome grandson, Jaye Man. With a passion to positively affect the lives of children everywhere Dr. Green started the Pretty Girl Movement. The movement empowers, unites and celebrates Pretty Girls everywhere by redefining the meaning of a Pretty Girl. through the Pretty Girl Movement, the Hey Girl book series was born: Hey Pretty Girl, Hey Smart Girl, Hey Super Girl, Hey Birthday Girl, Hey Daddy’s Girl, Hey Momma’s Girl, and Hey Special Girl along with two activity books titled Hey Girl Activity Book 1 and 2. Most recently Dr. Green created a book series dedicated to her grandson call “The Sky’s the Limit”. The collection includes Hey Jaye, what do you want to be? Hey Jaye, what do you want to do” and Hey Jaye, where do you want to go? Finally, the series includes a coloring book filled with inspirational uplifting pages to encourage children.

As a life-long educator, Dr. Green has been a member of the Flint Community School Board. She has also served as a Trustee member of the YWCA of Greater Flint. In 2010 Dr. Green founded and directs a non-profit organization, Empower. The mission of Empower is to improve the lives of youth and offer opportunities for girls and women by developing their capabilities through education, encouragement and exposure.

Dr. Green graduated from Mott Community College with a General Studies degree. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Community Development from Central Michigan University. She completed her Master degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. Most recently Danielle was chosen to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from Trinity University for her hard work and dedication to her community.

Dr. Green has received numerous awards for her works, including Community Dedication award, Phenomenal Woman award, Top 25 Women in Business award, Courageous Women award, Living Legend award, Black Girl Rock (Flint) award, Women of 20/20 Vision award and honored as one of the Women Moving Flint Forward. She has also received several honors of proclamations from the city of Flint recognizing November 8th and March 2nd as Danielle Green Day.
