Susan Cutsforth is an award-winning Australian teacher librarian.
'Our House is Not in Paris', is a memoir about their adventures in France. Three years ago, the couple bought an old farmhouse in the Lot and this recounts their renovating endeavours, when they go there once a year on a working holiday. It is poetic, humourous and provides insights in to the French way of life.
REVIEW:
'Our House is Not in Paris' is an absorbing account of a huge undertaking by Susan and Stuart Cutsforth in buying and renovating an old farmhouse in the Lot area of south-western France while based in Australia and using their annual holidays to do a massive amount of work. Anyone who has ever renovated will enjoy the journalling of this project, but it is made all the more interesting by Susan's account of taking on such a project on the opposite side of the world in an unfamiliar culture. Susan's ability to evoke the French village atmosphere and the couple's discoveries of new friendships and delights in surrounding villages makes this a delightful read."
