B. K. Karkra

B.K.KARKRA:_Born at Amargarh in India on 19.11.1937,the author is a soldier with scholarly inclinations. He had the priviledge of putting on four different uniforms in his career---the olive-green of the Indian Army, khaki of the Indian police, grey of the National Security Guards (better known as the 'Black Cat Commandos') and black as a lawyer of the Indian Supreme Court. He took early retirement as a Police Commandant to persue his interests in historical research and writing. His first book,'RANI PADMINI---The heroine of Chittor' is the first authentic work that sets at rest all doubts regarding the historicity of the celebrated queen who sits on the Indian psyche as a national heroine. The book was published by M/S Rupa and Co who are one of the premier publishers with global foot-prints. His second book, 'The ORIGIN OF RELIGIONS---An open-eyed journey through a mystic world' is also research-based. It is, in a way, the story of God, tellingly told. Interestingly, the God that we know by various names is just about four thousand years old, whereas the God who has created us and all else, is not a Being of history: He is beyond all history. This book was originally published by M/S AuthorHouse in the U.S.A. and its Indian edition has been brought out by M/S Gyan Books. Next in line by this author is a collection of small stories, picked up from the day to day life. It is under publication as,'LEAVES--Fallen from life'. Besides, the writer is a freelance journalist who has contributed hundreds of articles on wide-ranging subjects to many reputed national and regional dailies.
