Edward Shanaphy

Ed Shanaphy is the founder/publisher of Sheet Music Magazine, Piano Today Magazine, Keyboard Classics Magazine, MusicBooksNow.com, Ekay Music, Inc., The Jazz & Keyboard Workshop, and has published, edited and authored numerous books on performing music, music theory, and piano styling. His books and those of his company, Ekay Music, are distributed through Alfred Music. Ed is an ASCAP publisher and songwriter, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Catholic University where he also earned a Master of Music degree. He served as Director of Marketing for CBS Columbia House for many years, as well as having created direct marketing divisions for such companies as Charles Hansen Music & Books, Tele House, and Dynamic House. As a pianist Ed has played for orchestras and artists including the Glenn Miller Orchestra under Ray McKinley and cornettist Bobby Hackett, the Claude Thornhill Orchestra, the Columbia Musical Treasuries Orchestra, singer Bob Eberly, and The Four Aces among others. He served as conductor, arranger and pianist for the United States Army Band program both at home and in Europe, and has played on, conducted, and produced many albums for commercial and educational record labels.
