Rich Lukon

By the end of my troubled teenage years, I had become a moody, angry young man with no prospects for the future. Full of wanderlust and looking to escape my circumstances, I made a decision that changed my life. I found a job aboard a German freighter bound for Australia. For the next three years, I drifted around the globe. Those experiences of this three year journey changed me forever.

Returning to America, I entered university in Northern California in 1967 graduating three years later. In 1971, I left the United States for another three years living and working abroad in France and Africa, eventually, finding my way back to Northern California where I married and settled down.

Over the next 25 years, I completed a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Santa Clara while pursuing a career in electronics with Silicon Valley high tech companies.

A few years ago, I retired and launched into writing the first of two memoirs about those formative years of my life. My first book, The Longest Half Mile, was published in 2009 and revised in 2012. It tells the story of my youthful journey around the world and how it transformed me.

I currently live in Colorado with my wife and our trusty dog. I have become involved in public access TV production to serve and educate the community. Work on the second memoir is in progress.
