Gordon Savage

One morning when Gordon was on his way to school in third grade, he saw an army recruiting poster in a post office window. In it a “true” spaceship hurtled across a star-strewn backdrop. That image reached out and grabbed him. He wanted to be on that ship, exploring the solar system. From then on he told himself stories focused on outer space.

A few years later he discovered written science fiction in the form of Astounding (then) and Galaxy magazines, and he was immediately hooked. He not only read science fiction but also began to write it. Then life got in the way. He entered the Air Force Academy at seventeen, and the time he once had spent on writing disappeared in school work and dating. Thereafter marriage and twenty years of service in the Air Force and eighteen years as a software engineer kept him busy, but the urge to write never disappeared completely.

All that time he read every piece of science fiction he could: Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Poul Anderson. He was especially taken by Zenna Henderson’s People series. Eventually he got back to writing, and Anderson became his guiding light. In fact, one of Anderson’s short stories, "A Live Coward," was the inspiration for his first effort, PEACEMAKER, a yet undiscovered masterpiece. He has subsequently written two additional novels: TELEPORTAL and TELEPORTAL: DAMAGE CONTROL.

He lives among the pines on five acres outside Elizabeth, Colorado, with his wife, Carol, two cats, a horse, and a donkey. He has three grandchildren whom he doesn’t get to see nearly enough.
