Richard Hallows

Richard Hallows was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and brought up in Malvern, Worcestershire. After graduating in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol he worked for a number of major technology and telecommunications companies including IBM and Cable & Wireless. In 2001 he put his career on hold to look after his children and to write full time. He is the author of numerous short stories and magazine articles as well as the founder of the independent publisher Spikethecat Ltd. He now lives in Dublin, Ireland with his family where he is working on several projects including the Red Nail Girls series of children's stories.

Although not a regular participant in competitions, he has previously won awards for short stories and was runner-up for the Best Novel award from the National Association of Writers Groups. He was nominated for a Clarion Award by the IVCA in 2007 and longlisted for the Irish Times Short Story Award in 2012.

Elements of his work have been translated into Japanese and Arabic and also released as audio books, along with print and digital formats.
