I’m from Madrid, a temple for art. Then, I don’t remember the exact moment when I fall in love with arts. Maybe from the very beginning, maybe the first time I visited the Prado Museum that, in fact, it ought to have happened a second after my birthday… all of my life I’ve been surrounded by art and artists!
I started to study painting before writing and before reading I knew I wanted to live into the art world. Of course, at the university I studied Art and Art History and of course, my first job was… well, quite the opposite of what I had desired (always little problems for not being riche). Eight years in a bank are enough to change the mind of anyone or (you never know) to reinforce its principles. Then, I counted banknotes but I thought about Picasso and Paris, I filled stupid reports but I studied Alexander Calder and his constellations… I had my plan! My plan was long-term.
In 1992, I moved to Seville to start teaching art history (good change). After two years, I travelled around different European cities looking for my artistic roots. America and Africa gave me another point of view. Experiences and more experiences… I’ve always been very talkative and I love to meet new people.
I started to lecture, to write articles, to interview artists, to present exhibitions… ‘Ariza’, my first novel, is about art and travel. ‘The Girls of the Oil’ is an essay about women artists before the French Revolution. ‘The Shadow of the Art’ a search for what is art and what it has been through history.
Five years ago, I founded Yareah magazine together with the author Martin Cid. Yareah magazine, a magazine of arts and writing, devotee of promoting artists and authors, is the great reality of a dream which started… (you know) from the very beginning.
Yes, my plan keeps on being long-term.
