S. Renee Mitchell

S. Renee Mitchell, MBA, is an empowerment revolutionist who helps artists, entrepreneurs and young writers embrace their creative leanings so they can then reconnect the intention of their hand to their heart. In short, Renee uses both her right and left brain to help people excavate what is already inside and is longing to be rediscovered.

Renee is a poet, playwright, author, teacher, empowerment speaker and mother of three. And when she recites poetry, she can channel Maya Angelou like you wouldn't believe.

Before Renee reinvented herself as a full-time artist and creative consultant/coach, she had a 25-year, award-winning journalism career, including seven years as a Metro columnist at The Oregonian, where she was nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize.

Renee has an M.B.A., specializing in marketing, from George Fox University and a Bachelor's in journalism from Florida A&M University. In her free time, she enjoys painting, making beaded jewelry and finishing the libretto for a jazz opera with Grammy nominated Portland composer/band leader Thara Memory and Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding.

As a creative visionary, Renee also wears many other hats:

* Creative consultant for non-profits

* Inspirational keynote speaker

* Project director/Event organizer

* Workshop and training facilitator

* Social justice grant writer

* Playwright/actress/theater director

* Domestic violence/Sexual assault survivor
