Jorge Rojas Arzú

Jorge Rojas Arzú, PhD CFA is Dean and Senior Director of IDAF (Spanish acronym for The Higher Finance Institute) in Guatemala, Central America. He is also Professor of Finance for Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business -Goldring Institute. During his career, he has taught financial courses in graduate and undergraduate levels, including Corporate Finance, Capital Budgeting, Risk Management, Investments and Asset Pricing, Valuation and other Financial Topics. He has been Lecturer in the United States, China, Chile, Perú, Panamá, and Guatemala.

He earned his PhD in Finance from Tulane University. He also has a Master in Management from Tulane University, an MBA from Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala, and a double major in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. In addition, he has participated in several executive education courses in Harvard University, Tulane University, University of Chicago, Boston University and the Wharton School at UPenn. As Tulane University Professor, he has had the distinction of teaching in some of the best Executive Master Programs, like the PUCP-CENTRUM Global MBA in Perú, Universidad de Chile Global MBA in Santiago, and different cities for the GS-CASS in China.

He also has over 25 years of corporate consulting experience, which includes a broad range of managerial and financial topics such as equity valuation, financial project appraisal, value-based management (EVA), due-diligence projects, managerial diagnostics, and several in-house corporate high-level courses. His research interest topics include pension funds, family firms and real options. His “Project Valuation Techniques for Entrepreneurs” Book is available in Spanish, English and it is used as textbook in several Universities. His book was also recently published in Mandarin through Amazon China (企业管理人员的项目评估技巧 平装). His latest publication is “Risk Management and Derivatives Explained”, which covers the topics of Options, Futures, Forwards and Swaps.

He has been Lecturer and Professor of Finance at Tulane University (New Orleans, USA), Universidad Francisco Marroquin – UFM in Guatemala, Universidad del Istmo – UNIS in Guatemala, and On-Line Madrid Manuel Ayau – OMMA in Spain. He also served as Associate Dean and MFIN/MAPI Director at UFM Business School in Guatemala for several years, and he was referee and member of the editorial board at the Finance Research Center (FRC) at Universidad Francisco Marroquín. He has chaired more than 50 Master thesis and currently he also serves as advisor and thesis director for Doctoral Students at UFM.
