Both my new books, 'The Insides of Banana Skins' and 'Dead is Dead and Other Stories' are now available as paperbacks or ebooks

Don't you love the covers designed by Karen Baker?

‘The Insides of Banana Skins’ is my latest novel, set in London in the 1960s and probably should have a health warning attached; it features sex, death and dangerous living. London in the 1960s was one of the most exciting places to be, ever. It was a time for experimenting, pushing boundaries, being outrageous. Life was exhilarating, but could be scary and confusing. If you were around then this novel is for you. If you weren’t part of that amazing time, but want to know what it was like, then read this book.

‘Dead is Dead and Other Stories’ is a collection of twenty disturbing and unforgettable stories. Anyone who likes well written and challenging short fiction will love this book.

Recently I’ve also had several stories accepted by UK on-line mags. Here are the links to a few them…. Get reading!

I’ve been writing short fiction for quite a few years now. The first time my work reached the public was when Radio New Zealand broadcast ‘Dead is Dead’ in 2004 and since then several of my stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines as well as being bought for broadcast or doing well in international short story competitions.

My first published novel came out in August 2012. It’s called ‘Archie’s Daughter’ and is about families and mental illness. It’s the story of a woman, Sally, who, on the day her mother died, was told by her father that she had disappeared. Sally was harmed by the secrets and lies perpetrated by her father Archie. She marries, has her own children, tries to be a good wife and mother but eventually realises that she must confront her past if she is to survive. And this she does.

I’m also assistant fiction editor of takahe, a New Zealand literary magazine, teach creative writing from time to time and was until recently the president of The South Island Writers’ Association.

Born in England, I’ve lived in Nigeria, France, Switzerland and have now settled in the earth-quake battered city of Christchurch located in the beautiful south island of New Zealand.
