Steve A Schullo

Stephen A. Schullo, Ph.D. (UCLA '96) was born to Italian immigrant mother and US born Italian-American father. Grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin near a small town called Cumberland. Attended public schools throughout this academic career. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, wounded in combat.

He taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for 24 years and UCLA Extension. Steve wrote investment articles for union newspaper for 13 years(circ. 50,000). Thrice featured retirement plan advocate in the Los Angeles Times and U.S. News and World Report. He started an investor self-help group for teacher colleagues at LAUSD and wrote 5,000 posts in three investment forums since 1997. Frequently quoted by the media, testified at California State legislative hearings, honored by the Los Angeles teachers' union for his retirement planning advocacy. Since 2006 he has served on LAUSD's Investment Advisory Committee and former co-chair. The committee monitors 457b/403b of 55,000 former and current LAUSD employees, worth a total $2.0 billion in assets.
