(Journalist) Tom Miller

Tom Miller writes about China and India at Gavekal Research, a global economic research service based in Hong Kong. He is managing editor of the "China Economic Quarterly", published by its sister service Gavekal Dragonomics. A former journalist with the "South China Morning Post", he has reported from a dozen countries in Asia. His latest book, "China's Asian Dream: Empire Building Along the New Silk Road", is an on-the-ground account of how China is attempting to restore its historical position as the dominant power in Asia. His critically acclaimed first book, "China’s Urban Billion: The Story Behind the Biggest Migration in Human History", was translated into Chinese. Tom was educated at the University of Oxford and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, and spent two years studying Mandarin in Beijing. After fourteen years living in China, he now divides his time between England and Asia.
