Matthew Brehm

Matthew Brehm first studied architecture at the University of Notre Dame (B.Arch '89), during which time he spent an academic year studying in Rome, IT. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Oregon (M.Arch '98), and taught there as an adjunct professor for four years. He began teaching in the University of Idaho in 2004, and was ultimately promoted to Professor of Architecture in 2017. His teaching responsibilities include design studios, graphics courses, and an annual semester study abroad program in Rome that he initiated in 2007. In 2010, Matthew received the University's Hoffman Award for Excellence in Teaching, and on several occasions his sketches have been recognized with awards from the Design Communication Association and the American Society of Architectural Illustrators. He was involved as a board member in the founding of the Urban Sketchers non-profit organization in 2009, and has presented workshops and lectures at the group's worldwide events in the US, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, and Singapore.
