Joseph Rowe

Joseph Rowe was a normal cap gun toting five year old when he became ill with polio. It left him unable to breathe or use his arms. He spends his days in a wheelchair with a portable ventilator and his nights in an "iron lung."

Yet, Joseph used his feet to accomplish many things.

He wrote and typed his way through school to an MBA with straight "A's."

He excelled in a long career with a leading information technology company.

He was a leader of early disability rights efforts in college and later in the city of Dallas.

He drove specially equipped vans with his feet.

He served as a Sunday school teacher, assisting minister and church leader.

He built model rockets, complex robots and doll houses with his feet.

He learned to cook gourmet meals.

He was a leader in the 2008 Obama campaign and a delegate at the Democratic National Convention.

Joseph achieved all these things while surviving countless close calls with death due to illness, accidents and equipment failures. He lives in Dallas and has started a second career as an author. His first novel, a thriller about some disgruntled Occupy Wall street protesters who plan to steal trillions from the rich and give it away will be published in June, 2013.
