Clint Lanier

Dr. Clint Lanier is a Professor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. He has a background in writing and communication, a passion for history and travel, and a particular fondness for booze and bars. He became interested in the history of saloons and bars in 2006 when he was a professor at the University of Memphis. Wandering the Mississippi Delta, he stumbled upon old juke joints with great stories to tell. He immediately knew he needed to share these stories with the rest of the world. In 2011, together with his co-author and best friend Derek Hembree, he set out to find and share the history of society and alcohol, and America and its bars. Their first book, Drunken History, relates the story of mankind and its association with booze. Their book, Bucket List Bars (now in it's second edition), takes visitors around the United States to her most storied watering holes.
