Maria Kay

Dr Maria Kay is an Educational Consultant with a passion for the English language and a specialism in literacy. Her doctoral research elucidated how a musical intervention could be used to promote foundational literacy competencies.

She is the author of Sound Before Symbol: Developing literacy through music, Sally’s Day at the Sales, My Cat Ben, a literacy practitioners’ resource pack, Essential Steps to Literacy (Books 1-6) and The A-Z of Spelling (British English and American English versions). She is also a regular contributor to Teach Early Years and Early Years Educator magazines and has presented at many international educational conferences.
