Cara Koscinski

Dr. Cara Koscinski is an award-winning author. She earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in occupational therapy and is a long-time pediatric therapist. As an internationally certified autism specialist, Cara is passionate about using a child’s strengths and interests in therapy. Cara’s focus includes interoception, executive function, behavior challenges, autism, sensory processing, regulation, ADD, and movement. Dr. Koscinski provides education about autism and pediatric therapy topics across the US as a keynote speaker. She teaches continuing education courses in the US and UK to train therapists, teachers, parents, and other professionals. Cara has successfully founded two therapy clinics for children. She loves to have fun with her clients and educate the caregiver. She is a professor of pediatrics for OTD and MOT students and mentors students during their research/capstone work.

Cara was the founder of 'The Pocket Occupational Therapist.' As a parent to an awesome autistic son who also has mitochondrial disorder, Cara understands the importance of quality and evidence-based information. Her books are written with tips that the reader can use immediately.

Cara's Award-Winning books include The Special Needs SCHOOL Survival Guide and The Pocket Occupational Therapist/The Parent's Guide to Occupational Therapy for Autism & Special Needs. She also authored Sensorimotor Interventions: Using Movement to Improve Overall Body Function; The Weighted Blanket Guide; My Mighty Mito (for children who have Mitochondrial Disorder); a chapter in Autism in Lockdown: Expert Tips and Insights Into Coping with the COVID-19 Pandemic; and the book Interoception: How I Feel- Sensing the World from the Inside Out. Her newest book - Executive Function for Kids - Using the Train Model is due out in spring of 2024.
