Mickel is the second eldest of six children who grew up and experienced all forms of abuse at the merciless hands of his father. At age 14, Mickel's mother, Roberta (Howe) Millard, was murdered by her estranged husband on April 23, 1971, after having separated and filed for divorce.
From that day on, Mickel's life would spin totally out of control. Having become an alcoholic, in and out of trouble with the law, he was angry at the world, and carried a chip on his shoulder; life had no meaning and no future.
Mickel, at the age of 44, lost, hopeless, and in total despair, finally surrendered his life to the Lord in the spring of 2001. In the spring of 2011, Mickel felt the Lord directing him to write about the tragic events that took place forty years prior. While working on his book, "Murder and God's Redeeming Love", in the spring of 2012, the Lord spoke to Mickel again, and told him to go out and share the life changing transformation of Jesus Christ in his life to others.
'Murder And God's Redeeming Love' is a true story hitting at the heart of a serious social problem not only here but around the world. I share the story of our mother's tragic death; the abuse her six children would suffer at the hands of their father, yet the most important aspect of this publication is the life application principles that can lead it's readers to a new found hope and healing.
Today, Ephraim's Grit Ministries takes this message of hope, healing and the gospel around the country. Mickel and his wife Marcia share this message of hope in churches, jails, prisons, Women's Resource centers, and other organizations.
Ephraim's Grit Ministries has a heart, not only for women, children and men of domestic violence, but for anyone who has been affected by the tragedy of losing a loved one, or of any traumatic experience in which healing needs to take place.
Gen. 41:52 … Ephraim: (literally meaning “Fruitfulness”) “For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” – And now, determination, perseverance, tenacity, and courage, are all synonyms for grit. Our mission is to embrace victims of abuse through Christ’s love; teaching and empowering them with principles from the word of God, to create lasting change in their lives, and thus produce courage, perseverance and fruitfulness in all aspects of living.
A faith based ministry designed to help bring healing and restoration through the gospel of Jesus Christ and prayer. We are here to supply needed support, hope and guidance to victims of abuse and tragedy. We take the message of Jesus Christ, Mickel's powerful testimony into churches, prisons, and other organizations.
