Judy May Murphy

Judymay Murphy (also writes under 'Judy May' and 'Judy May Murphy') has been writing professionally for over two decades in the self-help genre sometimes under the guise of fiction.

It’s hard to say where Judymay Murphy can be found right now as you read this. you might find her drinking tea in a dingy dive bar in the wrong parts of Paris,

or hanging out with drag queens and billionaires in the glittery slices of new york, MMA training with her coach in the part of Los Angeles near the airport, or in London’s Soho at her beloved and iconic Groucho Club re-reading classic novels from early in the morning before the staff have even arrived.

Judymay Murphy has always adventured deep, living a life of quiet speculation when it comes to being where things can be eaten from with relish. Even before graduating with a BA Hons in Drama and a Masters in Literature from Trinity College Dublin she was dance training for three months of the year at Steps on Broadway and getting lost in New York’s East Village and Alphabet City of the late eighties and early nineties. A stint living in Kathmandu with daily trips to visit the central prison, then a lost year in the Marais district of Paris, was followed by an unintentionally educational dive into the Hollywood scene.

She then fled back in Ireland writing for and appearing on television and then passed a nomadic decade-and-a-half touring the world speaking from the biggest self-help stages and doing book signings. “I reckon I have broken myself and my pencils on enough corners of the world to qualify as an international poet,” she smiles.

Judymay is the granddaughter of Ireland’s celebrated Irish poetry scholar and University College Dublin Professor of Celtic Studies, Gerard Murphy, and although he passed away a decade before she was born she would sink into the family edition of his ‘Early Irish Lyrics’ from a young age. She is a regular expert guest on BBC other radio and TV stations around the globe and still speaks on stages to thousands worldwide several times a year.
