Paul Rademacher was born 1940 near Hamburg in Germany and studied chemistry at the Universities of Saarbrücken and Göttingen, were he received a Dr. rer. nat. degree (Wolfgang Lüttke, molecular structure of dimethylnitrosamine). After one year as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oslo/Norway (Otto Bastiansen, structure analysis by electron diffraction), he joined the University of Münster. His Habilitation, dealing with conformational analysis of aliphatic hydrazines by electron diffraction and photoelectron spectroscopy was completed in 1974. Since 1977 he is Professor of organic chemistry at the University of Essen (since 2003: University of Duisburg-Essen). His research interests include heterocyclic chemistry, molecular spectroscopy, gas phase pyrolysis reactions and organic structure chemistry.
P. Rademacher retired on July 31st, 2005.
