I'm a twenty-five-year practitioner of Nichiren Buddhism, This branch of Mahayana Buddhism arose in 13th century Japan and originated in the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha 2500 years ago.

A leader in the SGI-USA, the lay organization of Nichiren Buddhists in the United States, I work in the Pacific Northwest, where I support members in their practice and help beginners learn how to chant and use the practice.

I've taught Nichiren Buddhism to newcomers in a prison in Oregon, started a new people's group, and taught in an addictions center. I have a bi-weekly vlog to help people successfully apply Buddhist philosophy and practice to the problems of everyday life. https://www.margaretblaine.com, or YouTube.com/MargaretBlaine

I have a passion for working to make this practical centuries-old way of life readily accessible, so each of you can use this practical method to take charge of your life and become happy. In this way, I believe that peace can be built in the world one person at a time. Part of what I love is that you can prove to yourself whether the simple chanting practice produces benefits in your life. Believe me, when you start to chant, you will have embarked on an adventure.

My book, Your Path to Unshakeable Happiness is written for those of you who are new, to teach you how to start chanting, and also for members who are working with someone new or just want a refresher for themselves.

I have three children and three grandchildren by my first marriage and acquired two more stepchildren, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren through my second marriage.

I love to read, write, garden, do handwork, and sew. I work out in a gym. I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends and playing with my cats.
