J.B. Lifflander

Hi, I'm J.B. Lifflander or John Lifflander and I write novels and technical books, and I live in Ridgefield, WA. You can email me at john@liffland.com. I consider the Christian novels I write as a ministry, and have priced them as low as possible on Amazon to reach the widest audience. My latest novel, The Free State of Galveston, is fiction but also has some semi-autobiographical elements - I grew up in Galveston, Texas and my friends drove fast cars, and I am also a licensed pilot. I went to Ball High School and lived in Houston and observed the beginning of the hippie movement in the 1960's from that vantage point.

Other similarities between the book and my life are that my father was an historian who specialized in the Civil War, and went to Columbia University, and taught history at Galveston College and Texas A & M, and my mother was Australian, and was a nurse in that country. I also lived in the large, historical house described in the book, and which is the photograph on the back cover if you have the paperback. The characters in the book are not actual people, but are based on composites of friends and others I have known, and some of the incidents did occur. My prayer is that many will be blessed by this book.

The idea for Disguised for Love: The Strickland Sisters, began when I started watching PBS productions of Jane Austen books like Pride and Prejudice and Emma with my wife and daughter, after my sons left home. I never thought I'd write an historical romance, but the idea of the book kept coming back to me so I finally wrote it. I was concerned that women would not want to read a romance novel by a man, but that has not turned out to be the case - many women have said they love the novel.

Journey in the Great Depression started many years ago when I told my children stories about that time period. My father lived through it and talked about it, as he was also a history professor. I finally made this story into a book and it's used in Christian schools and by homeschoolers to teach history and Christianity.

Lemuel, What My Son? is a futuristic book about a time when all the popular girls in school are in witch's covens. It's a view of the other side of the occult - the opposite of Harry Potter.
