Clive Richardson, whose autobiography is now revised, updated and re-titled "Soul Citizen - Tales and Travels from the Dawn of the Soul Era to the Internet Age", published by CliveR Books/Lulu.com at £10.00, was born in Bromley, Kent, UK, in 1946. He was educated at Cray Valley Technical High School, Sidcup,leaving in 1962 to begin a career working with books, as a library assistant then as mail order manager at a major London bookstore for 20 years.
Clive became a music journalist in 1964, first as secretary of the Don Covay Fan Club then as editor of Shout magazine, a soul music fanzine, from 1966 to 1974, following which came numerous commissions to write LP sleevenotes.
As a soul music fan and record collector, he started broadcasting on London pirate radio station JFM Radio in 1981 before moving to Solar Radio in 1984. Clive joined Radio Thamesmead in 1989, which soon became RTM Radio. He was on the launch schedule of Kiss 100FM in 1990 before returning to RTM Radio for ten years, then rejoining Solar Radio in 1999, with whom he is still involved today (2014) as Managing Director, while also presenting a weekly show of classic soul
Clive was asked to join Shout Records in 2000, continuing as Label Manager to this day, and is also now a consultant for Fantastic Voyage Records. His autobiography was published by Bank House Books in December 2010, as "Really Sayin' Something - Memoirs of a Soul Survivor". but is now available in revised and updated form as "Soul Citizen", also available here at Amazon.
