Jacqueline Richard

Hi, there! I'm a psychotherapist who lives and works in Santa Barbara, California. I'm also a wife and a mom to two incredible adult daughters and one mischievous cat. I am passionate about my family, my work, reading, cooking, and walking along the ocean.

I started out my adult life as an R.N., when I worked in hospitals in obstetrics, critical care units, a cancer research treatment unit, and emergency rooms. After the birth of my daughters, I enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, but I really missed working with people in a healing setting. I decided to return to school, and I became a psychotherapist. I've been involved in the psychotherapy world since 1989.

Over the years, I had many experiences that eventually helped me to discover my passion for helping people heal their emotional pain. I also felt really moved and inspired by how painfully impacted so many people are by shame, past and present relationships, and sexuality. I once again returned to school and earned a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree. I also eventually earned the Sex Therapist credential offered by the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, also known as AASECT.

These days, I enjoy a busy private practice that primarily focuses on relationship difficulties and sex therapy. I'm also enjoying the pleasures of living in sunny Santa Barbara. I'm continually amazed by the surprises each day brings!

I wrote Divinely Attuned because I wanted to show people in good relationships how they can have even more intimacy and fulfillment. Many of the people who come to see me are spiritually inclined, and increasing the spiritual dimension to relationships is a natural outcome of improving intimacy. It's what gives deeper meaning to a good relationship, as you'll see.

So often couples want to give up on their relationship because they feel bored, it feels "flat", and it seems like it has grown as far as it can. In other words, the joy is gone. In this book I am showing you how to bring back the joy and fall in love all over again.
