Ruth Johnston was born and brought up in Liverpool. A natural rebel, she left school at 15 and became a punk. The Eighties saw her put away her safety pins and move to the warmer climes of Marbella for several years of sun, fun and decadence. On a visit home to see her parents, who had then retired to Wales, she met her future husband. For the last twenty years Ruth has lived with him and their two sons in the wilds Wales.
Ruth began blogging under the name Wildernesschic (a play on words pronounced "chick") initially musing about life, style and fashion. She discovered she had a talent for expressing her emotions through poetry and photography. Many of her readers commented they should be a book and Word Intoxication was born.
Word Intoxication is a book of modern, edgy, honest and poignant poetry. Writing about life, love and loss, Ruth Johnston has created a wonderfully accessible book of words and images. Ruth writes with minimalist images creating poetry that surprises with instant vision and meaning. A vision that very few will get a moment of in the process of living.
