George Osol was born in New York City to Russian-Ukrainian immigrant parents. He graduated summa cum laude from Manhattan College in 1975, majoring in Biology, and received his Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Vermont in 1981. A member of the University of Vermont College of Medicine faculty, George has taught at the University of Vermont for 35 years, is an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association, and has authored or co-authored more than 100 original scientific papers.
With its ethical and legal implications, the field of obstetrics plays a small but important part in CAVEAT, his first novel, which explores how seemingly casual circumstances can draw a person toward an unforeseen and tragic fate.
George is currently working on a volume of short stories that will be published in 2018. Two essays - Is Everybody In?, a closer look at Jim Morrison's poetry, and The Solitary Twilight of a Star: Remembering Mr. Dean Martin - are available on Kindle.
Outside of writing, his favorite hobby is photography, and you can link to a photo gallery via his website (www.georgeosol.com). There is also a collection of photographs of Paris to accompany CAVEAT.
