Military [Civil War Era] History ~ and ~ Christianity
D. R. Hill is a 36 year, decorated combat veteran [US ARMY Retired] who led a long and distinguished military career, spanning a tenure of Enlisted service [from Private E-1 to Staff Sergeant E-6] then a Commissioned Combat Arms Officer – Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Engineer. He served in multiple command assignments [Company to Brigade level. During OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM [Multi-National Force] led by Commanding General David Petraeus, Colonel Hill served a Officer in Charge for the 108th Division’s Tactical Operations Center – tasked to train Iraqi Army and Police. Doctor Hill is a graduate of the US ARMY WAR COLLEGE [Class of 2004] and holds his M.B.A; Masters in Strategic Studies; and PhD in Management. He is an avid student of military history, a WAR-FIGHT researcher and author. As namesake of Lieutenant General D. H. Hill [C.S.A.] he is the author of “Lee’s Fighting General” and currently serves as Provisional Brigade Commander of the infamous “1st NC Regiment [C.S.A.] – immortalized as the “Bethel Brigade” – First at Big Bethel – Further at Gettysburg – Last at Appomattox!” Cancel culture notwithstanding, he continues to advocate and campaign for the restoration of damaged/destroyed historical military statues [of every era.]
THE ART OF [DIGITAL] WAR (Volumes I, II, and III) - MY FRIENDSHIP WITH THE FAMILY OF LTG FLYNN –
I first became acquainted with the Mike Flynn family when Mike Jr. was a college roommate with my oldest son at Wingate University in NC; getting to know Mike Junior as he worked his way through the travails of college campus life - working part-time [along with my son] at my Sports Camp and Martial Arts School in the small town of Monroe, NC. Over many years, the family friendship between Mike Junior and my son has continued to grow - to the point of my son’s role as a groomsman in Mike Junior’s wedding. So, for me, it was at this point in my comfortable, and otherwise enjoyable, life a retired US Army Senior Officer [O6] that I joined the ranks as a soldier in Flynn’s “DIGITAL ARMY!” [Further details of our families’ friendship are shared on pages 51-52 of Volume I - The Art of Digital War.]
MY TWO-FOLD PURPOSE FOR WRITING “The Art of [Digital] War – I & II”
ONE: I recognized the severe, unwarranted and growing financial dilemma facing the Flynn’s family and I wanted to financially contribute [somehow] to his defense fund in some form and fashion. I felt perhaps I could employ my experience as a writer to author “The Art of [Digital] War” – thinking perhaps there could be a potential to raise a modest, but much needed amount, of money in support of General Flynn’s legal defense;
TWO: as a retired, Senior US ARMY officer with periods of service [1968 to 2009] and Graduate of the US ARMY WAR COLLEGE [Class of 2004], I recognized the gravity of the dilemma facing LTG Flynn and sensed a somber and urgent need to document and record [historically] the ongoing efforts of LTG Flynn’s new and growing “Digital Army.” I was convinced, and remain so to this day, that an historical record of this ongoing Digital War needed to be recorded and preserved – to capture empirical data and evidence the fight - so this data could be used to train ‘future war fighters’ of our Senior Service Colleges and other institutions of military education.
If you understand how our U.S. Senior Service Colleges operate, then you know that LTG Flynn, I, and every other War College graduate was required to author countless ‘written projects and papers’ as a primary means of higher learning for “The Art of War!” Future generations of military leaders WILL eventually spend inordinate amounts of time ‘writing War College papers’ on the very events that were chronicled in the Q POSTS!] So, when “We the People” finally achieve victory in this Digital and God’s grants full restoration of our Constitution and heals our nation, we must take proactive measures to ensure that “This will never happen again!” We will have to TEACH and TRAIN our FUTURE WAFIGHTERS! We will have to INSTRUCT them on exactly how THE PLAN - “the most elaborate and complex military intelligence operation that the world has ever seen” was adjudicated! To conduct this training, we’re going to need a solid DESK REFERENCE MANUAL!
