Patrick Shaub is a full-time professional helicopter pilot and flight instructor. He has over 7500 hours of flight experience, most of it in turbine helicopters. Pat was the author of numerous aviation related magazine articles before writing his three novel series “Flying the Lifeline” drawn from his extensive military and later air ambulance helicopter flying experience. The first book in the series “Marine Helicopter Pilot,” is drawn from twelve years as a Marine transport helicopter pilot and flight instructor. After leaving the Marines Pat moved to Central Texas where he served as an air ambulance pilot. He had over 2400 missions to his credit before going on to start and manage two air ambulance operations. One of the operations included long range jets used for international emergency medical missions. Pat has flown or done platform instruction in all fifty of the United States. He has flown military and commercial flights in Japan and other nations in East Asia, and to and from many ships and oil platforms at sea. He has several years of experience conducting missions against drug smugglers in the Caribbean both during the day and while using Night Vision Goggles. He currently flies business and commercial helicopters in West Africa. Pat and his wife Linda have three grown sons (John, Gordon and James) and live on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country west of Austin.
