Brian C. Whiteside

Brian Whiteside has served the Lord and the church as a pastor, teacher, and conference speaker for the past 30 years preaching and teaching God's Word to all ages. Brian graduating from San Diego Christian College in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. In 1994, Brian earned a graduate level paralegal degree from the University of San Diego. He has written numerous articles for Christian publications. Since 1984, he has been very active in the AWANA clubs serving as a commander, pastor and missionary advisory board member.

Brian has been a avid cyclist since childhood. He was born and raised in San Diego County and currently lives in the Coachella Valley desert in eastern Riverside County, California. Throughout his teenage and adult life, Brian has ridden bicycles all over Southern California, along with two bike trips in Europe. He also has enjoyed the many rides he’s done in Arizona, Colorado and Baja California. He hopes the reader enjoyed this short biography about his 2002 bike trip along the Pacific Coast.

He became completely disabled in 2010 with Sjögren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disorder. Even though his health issues make it impossible for him to work, let along ride his bike, he has taken a few minutes here and there to write this reflection about his bike trip taken ten years ago. Brian is also a co-author of The Discipling Church (2012). His wife of 27 years takes good care of him and drives him to doctor appointments and other such fun places.

Brian enjoys going to church when he can and is even a co-host of a weekly radio program on www.aliveinchristradio.com which he does from his bed. He also contributes what time he can with his limited health to Christian Discipleship Ministries International, a global organization assisting churches in developing disciples for Jesus.
