Michelle Hoffmann

I don’t write stories that sit quietly on the page. I write the kind that move a little under your skin, that follow you into the next hour, the next day, like something unfinished.

I’ve always been drawn to what lives just beneath the surface—the patterns people don’t notice, the systems quietly shaping things, the moments where reality feels like it almost slips. My work tends to land somewhere in that space. Mystery blends into speculative fiction. Satire drifts into something darker. Magick shows up not as ornament, but as structure—as a way of understanding what’s happening underneath everything else.

I don’t stay in one lane for long, and I don’t try to. What matters more to me is the feeling a story leaves behind. I want my books to carry weight. To ask something of the reader. To linger.

The characters I write usually aren’t looking for transformation, but they end up there anyway. They follow threads they weren’t supposed to see. They question things that would’ve been easier to leave alone. And somewhere along the way, they become more aware of the world—and themselves—whether they wanted to or not.

Outside of writing, I create visual art and other projects that explore the same ideas—symbolism, nature, hidden meaning, and the quiet architecture behind reality. It all connects for me. Different mediums, same current.

I write for people who like a little edge to their stories. A little mystery. Something that doesn’t just pass the time, but shifts it.

If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll feel at home here.
