Rich Graduated from Mercer University ROTC, as the number one member of his commissioning class, and in the top 20 percent in the nation. Rich commissioned as an Infantry Officer and reported to his Unit (1st Infantry, 4th IBCT) being Ranger, Airborne and Air Assault Qualified. He quickly rated as the number 3 of all Lieutenants in his Light Infantry Battalion. Rich deployed in support of OIF, serving as a Rifle Platoon Leader and as a Company Executive Officer placed in charge of a 150 manned Company remotely located at small Joint Security Station located over 100kms from any friendly elements. Following deployment, Rich was awarded the Col Scooter Burke Award, given to the Junior Officer that shows the most leadership potential in the Battalion. After a successful collegiate wrestling career, Rich excelled in Army combatives, becoming a 1st Infantry Division Champion and earning a spot on the Fort Riley Combatives Team. This gave him the opportunity to be the Captain and lead the Team to a 2nd place finish at the All-Army Combatives Tournament, in 2009 and 2010. Currently, Rich currently works at Special Operations Command South in Homestead, FL.
