Tony was born and raised in Guernsey and has lived in the Island all of his life. He spent a lengthy career in the Civil Service, acquiring a wide knowledge of Guernsey and has a keen interest in the island’s heritage and culture, in a wide range of areas.
For many years, he was known as the island’s native guide, within the Civil Service, and has escorted VIPs at the highest level, including a Deputy Prime Minister, when they visited Guernsey.
When he left the Civil Service, he established a local tour company called Experience Guernsey Limited and operated that business until 2008. He worked full time as a Business Advisor with the Guernsey Enterprise Agency, trading as Startup Guernsey, helping people to get started in business until the end of 2019. He is also the Branch Office for the IoD Guernsey Branch until retiring at the end of 2019.
Tony still builds, hosts and maintains websites for businesses and private individuals and in what little spare time he has left he loves to write.
Tony started writing Guides to Guernsey in 2011 and has written several children's stories, one of which is published on Amazon and is called, Olli the Ormer meets the King. He has also dabbled with other types of Guides and books until he was grabbed by his first Novel.
He started writing Ten Days One Guernsey Summer some time ago and appropriately, exactly 77 years after those traumatic 10 days in his book, the completed novel was published. In many senses, it has been a labour of love as time to write hasn’t always been easy to find, but recording for posterity the decisions and traumas the family faced was his ultimate goal.
Throughout the whole of his first book there is one inescapable fact. At one point my grandmother took her children and left my grandfather to get on to a boat not knowing when she would see him again or where they were going.
He wasn’t prepared to accept that they would have to live apart and risked everything to keep them together. In that respect, I feel this is primarily a love story.
It was love that drove every decision and, in the end, it was love that kept them together. And from Tony's point of view, it was love that drove him to write this book.
He has subsequently published a Novella called Journey Home. The third book in his Guernsey trilogy. Battle for Guernsey, is an alternative history look at the liberation of the Island.
Since then, he has completed and published a number of novels, including The Kangaroo Ace, based during the First World War, a couple of Science Fiction novels, the first of which is called Project 75, and he is now working on the fourth book in a crime series based in the Northeast of England. These books follow the exploits of Detective Inspector Karen Dee and her colleagues. The first in the series is called River of Bones.
We hope you enjoy his work.
