Glynnis Hayward

A South African born novelist and essayist, Glynnis Hayward now calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. However, a leopard doesn't change its spots....her work shows that Africa still features high in her affections and interest.

In addition to her first two novels, "A Telling Time," published in 2003, and "A Significant Test of Blood" in 2007, she has had many articles published in journals and magazines.

In 2008 she won an award from the PULITZER CENTER on Crisis Reporting for her essay that discussed how stigma and discrimination perpetuate the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

In 2013, she was invited to become a member of PEN South Africa, a branch of PEN International. This is the representative body for literature at UNESCO and the United Nations. She was also recognized by the Journal of Commonwealth Literature, alongside many notable South African authors.

Her third novel, "Light on a Dark Secret," published in 2013, is available both on Kindle and in paperback. In 2020, She released a revised edition of this book. Its title is FOUR SIDES TO A STORY.

Roads and Bridges was released in 2021 and A LABYRINTH OF SECRETS was published in 2023.

In 2024, A LABYRINTH OF SECRETS placed as a finalist in the STORYTRADE AWARDS list for excellence and innovation.

In 2025, A LABYRINTH OF SECRETS was the winner of the INTERNATIONAL IMPACT BOOK AWARD for Women's Fiction.

In 2025 her most recent book, BECOMING ALICE AGAIN, was published.
