If you had told me when I was a piano major at Juilliard that I would have a career in mental health working with musicians, writers, speakers, executives, lawyers, physicians, and many others who experience stage fright I would not have believed you. Due to my own struggles with performance anxiety (I remember my first memory slip at the age of six years old which I write about in Managing Stage Fright) I became curious about understanding this unnerving and frightening experience that no one talked about. Unknowingly my journey to writing Managing Stage Fright began many years before publishing a book on the topic as well as authoring Melodies of the Mind, where I ventured into examining how and why music evokes strong feelings. My hybrid background includes two degrees from Juilliard, the MSW, MA, and Ph.D. from The University of Michigan, and full training in psychoanalysis. My articles have been published in major psychoanalytic and music journals, my blogs appear on my website (julienagel.net) and The Huffington Post. You are invited to visit my website julienagel.net and my FB page at Dr. Julie Jaffee Nagel Author. My work has been endorsed by Leon Fleisher, Joseph Polisi, Glen Gabbard, Arnold Steinhardt, Gary Ingle and many others. I am in private practice and enjoy meeting with people a speaking engagements.
