G. Penn

Who is G. Penn? G. Penn is a pen name (nom de plume) and stands for Giselle Penn, a name pulled from family historical records. Why use a pen name? And who is the person behind the name? The use of a pen name was an arbitrary decision when I first decided to write and publish books. I have worked as a journalist for a small town newspaper, as an historian, and as an archivist. I chose a nom de plume when I first started to write novels to keep my professional writing separate from my novels. Who am I? I am an author, wife, mother and grandmother and live in Maryland with my husband, one dog, and three cats. Our dog, Chico, is a Chihuahua Dachshund Hybrid Dog, a Chiweenie, who thinks he is a big black Labrador Retriever. We have always had black Labs, and it is only a short time ago our last one passed away at the age of sixteen. Chico grew up with two one-hundred plus pound Labs and continues to see himself as other than a thirteen pound dog. It makes for an interesting experience when he meets a new dog!

Greek Fire, my first adult novel, is the story of a century-old secret and the race across Europe and the United State to preserve the secret by unlikely allies.

The Portal and The Island are my first two books for children. They are chapter books and the first two in the Museum Mysteries series. A supernatural cat named Bast, three young girls, and a host of unusual animals are transported across time on adventures. The series is designed for children ages approximately six to ten and the third book in the series, The Cave, was published on December 22, 2015, and continues the adventures of Bast, Maximus, and their friends.
