Maureen Murphy Williams

Hello! My name is Maureen Murphy Williams. I write cat detective novels, which incorporate my passions for shelter animal adoptions, wine country adventures and British traditions.

My novels include: Catapult: A Mo the Shelter Cat Mystery (Volume 4, 2017); Cinco de Meow: A Mo the Shelter Cat Mystery (Volume 3, 2015); Catastrophe: A Mo the Shelter Cat Mystery (Volume 2, 2013); and my first novel, Cat Man Deux: A Mo the Shelter Cat Mystery (Volume 1, 2012.

You can find my novels on all major online retail websites, including Barnes and Noble, CreateSpace, and Smashwords. Of course, you can find all four at my author webpage here on Amazon, by searching: maureen_murphy_williams.

Morgan, aka Mo, my feline sleuth, actually spent three years in local shelters before she adopted me. That was seven years ago, and Mo is now a permanent member of my household. She brought some baggage with her, but who of us doesn't carry that around? She tolerates mine, and I tolerate hers. Also part of my feline family are Mona, Mac and Murphy, portrayed in Seven Oaks as the companions to Commissioner George King.

One of my passions is supporting animal causes. Inside the front covers of Catapult, Cinco de Meow and Catastrophe, you will find the website for the Cat Adoption Team (CAT). A portion of my book sales royalties is donated to CAT because I adopted Mo from them, and they took such good care of Mo. As they do all felines in their care.

I've been asked why I choose to write cat detective novels. My response is, why not? I love cats, I've read every cat detective novel written (Shirley Rousseau Murphy, Rita Mae Brown, Sofie Kelley, Lilian Jackson Braun, LeAnn Sweeney, and many others) and it gave me the chance to incorporate a few of my other interests, like wine tasting in fabulous Oregon wine country. Many of the cats and humans in my novels sport British names as I love so many of the English traditions. Seven Oaks (which is really a township in England) is actually Dundee, Oregon, one of the most interesting places to visit in Yamhill Valley Wine Country.

Although born in Kansas, I call myself an Oregonian, even though I'm not particularly fond of the rainy climate. Aside from the rain, it has so much to offer; the mountains, the beach, the central and eastern deserts, and of course, beautiful wine county. I attended high school in Salem, Oregon, spent four years at Oregon State University for my B.S., and received my Master's Degree from the joint schools OSU/WOU.
