Andrea Strongwater

Andrea Strongwater has been an artist all her life. She recently turned her attention to Jewish themes. Her current project re-creates in paintings and words synagogues across Europe that were destroyed before and during WWII. The project is a traveling exhibit, a lecture and now a large coffee table book.

The young adult version of the synagogue project, 'Where We Once Gathered' was awarded a Silver Moonbeam for young adult readers by the Independent Publishers and is a finalist for the Forward awards.

Strongwater created a workbook for women in Aghanistan where the pictures explain hygeine and social responsibilities and are meant to be embroidered by the students. Rubia Handwork also uses the project, Threads of Change, in African countries. For more information please visit Rubia Handwork

Strongwater has illustrated 'Princess Ingeborg and the Dragons' by Wendy Zomparelli, 'Cuffy's New York City Adventure' and 'I Don't Know - Adventures of a Forest Playground' by Eartha Powell. In 2025-2026 her schedule is full of exhibits and lectures.
