Dr. Jason Kolowski is currently the principal consultant with Forensic Insight Consulting, and previously was the Forensic Laboratory Director for the Department of Forensic Sciences in Washington D.C. Previously, he worked as a Criminalist in the mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA laboratories within the Department of Forensic Biology at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in New York City. His experiences in New York included investigating homicides and sexual assaults, working on crime scene reconstruction, and assisting in the disaster recovery effort of the World Trade Center. He is an Emeritus member in the American Board of Criminalistics, and a long-standing member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Jason attended Cornell College where he earned a dual BA degree in biochemistry/molecular biology and philosophy. Jason earned his master's degree in forensic science in 2003 from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, at the City University of New York, and in 2012 completed his Ph.D in biochemistry from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York. Jason is married and lives in Virginia with his wife and children.
