Dr. Gautam Soparkar is a physician with a special interest in sleep apnea and lung diseases. He has published three books on sleep apnea. His first book "Questions and Answers in Sleep Apnea (An Internist's Perspective)" is directed towards healthcare professionals. His second book "The Quick and Easy Sleep Apnea Book" aims to increase public awareness about this condition, and has received a Readers Favorite Silver Medal and a finalist position in the International Book Awards Competition. His third and most recent book "Sleep Apnea in Women: a Wake-Up Call" highlights the importance of sleep apnea in women, something which is not commonly recognized.
Dr. Soparkar has held clinical, research and teaching positions across India, the United Kingdom and Canada. He has served as a program director for medical residents, as well as an examiner for the Medical Council of Canada as well as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In addition to managing a very busy practice, he is a preceptor for the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and an adjunct professor at Western University, London, Ontario.
On-site sales of Dr. Soparkar's books have supported a number of worthy causes, including several hospital foundations, a hospice and a local women's interval home. Two of the books are featured on the World Sleep Day website for their role in raising awareness of sleep-related disorders.
