Timothy Schmand

Timothy Schmand fled upstate New York’s oppressive winters and settled in south Florida in 1982. He has spent the last 30 years as a participant observer in the great, and often frustrating, human experiment known as “Miami.” His writing is informed by his life experiences -- living in a primitive cabin in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, working in group homes for troubled and abused children, and managing successful public parks and performance spaces. Schmand’s award winning short fiction has appeared in literary journals, popular magazines and anthologies. His Miami observations have been published regionally and internationally.
