Nancy Lorraine

Nancy Lorraine (Edelman) has a Ph.D. in Social Work. She worked for over 30 years counseling families and children in crisis. Her mental health knowledge informs her stories. Lorraine, a master gardener, has an extensive backyard flower garden frequented by butterflies, dragonflies, and eight grandchildren. Her garden serves as a place of meditation and inspiration. The butterfly stories are works of joy.

"The Butterfly Adventure" is Nancy Lorraine's first published book. However, she just won an award in the Porter Fleming Literary Competition for a non-fiction essay. She and Dot Herron, the illustrator, have just published their second work about a small tattered Monarch butterfly who finds a way to migrate with help from friends. The book is called "Tatty, The Monarch Butterfly" End notes provide information about butterflies, migration, and the flowers they depend on.

Nancy Lorraine has recently published a companion coloring book called "Backyard Butterflies Coloring Book." The book contains photos of butterflies from her backyard and detailed sketches of each butterfly for coloring. Included is also information about each butterfly. Ages 8 and up.

Nancy Lorraine is the pen name for Nancy Lorraine Edelman. As Nancy Lorraine Edelman, Ph.D. she has just published her third book, a self-help book, "Dixie and the Sunshine Butterflies: A Story of Grief and Recovery for Parents and Children." She co-authored this book with Elizabeth Newlin, MD, a adolescent-child psychiatrist. This book would be appropriate for parents and for mental health professionals.
