The late Barbara Blyth was the busy multi-talented wife of journalist David. A mother of two, Barbara was born in Norwich, the daughter of a cobbler. When her first marriage failed the lack of money led her to show her grit and determination in providing for her two small children. She was the matron of a Cromer girls school, and when this closed she began work on the land. It was at this time that she became a poacher. Her exploits at poaching were highlighted in an episode of A Cook On The Wild Side featuring chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittigstall. A well-known and popular member of Cromer society, A Quick Fix is a fitting memorial to a gritty, determined woman. Barbara formed the plot of her first - and only - novel, using information compiled by her husband from an aborted investigation of the North Norfolk drugs scene
